Crafting the Present — The Dresdner Zimmer at Deutsche Werkstätten Hellerau

About

Craft is not heritage. It is practice.
Since 1898, the evolution of craftsmanship has been at the core of Deutsche Werkstätten — continuously embedded in the technological and design contexts of its time. As engineers and makers in the luxury sector, the company occupies a rare position: exceptional quality, properly valued.
For many design-driven craftspeople in Saxony, the reality looks different — despite work of equal precision and ambition.
The initiative Dresdner Zimmer brings these contemporary craft positions into focus. Hosted within the gallery spaces of Deutsche Werkstätten Hellerau, it creates a platform for outstanding handcrafted objects — and a space for discourse on what craftsmanship means today.
